Family Promises of Wake County Work Study Position- 2017-18 School Year

Each year in Wake County, 4,000 individuals experience homelessness, including 2,700 children in Wake County schools who do not have a place to call home. Family Promise of Wake County is working to bring those numbers down to zero.
Since 1993, Family Promise has provided services to more than 1,250 Wake County families.  With the expertise of our full-time staff of social workers, assistance from more than 2,000 volunteers and support from more than 50 partner congregations, we help families regain their independence through shelter, meals, case management and educational services.
Family Promise's mission is to transform the lives of families experiencing temporary homelessness by helping them find support services and safe, affordable, permanent housing in our community.
For the 2017-18 school year Family Promises has a need for a weekend supervisor.
The weekend supervisor currently has 3 shifts on Saturday and 2 on Sunday.  While here the person acts as a receptionist in the foyer of our building.  They are provided with training and information materials so they know what to do.
Shifts on Saturday run 8:30-11:30, 11:30-2:30 and 2:30-5:30 and on Sunday from 7:45-12:30 and 12:30 to 5:30.  Sometimes our families are out running errands, working or visiting family and friends, but it is helpful to have someone in the building when they are not.
This would be a great position for a work study student. You would be interacting with guests and those in need of services.
